From a Grandma. Weren't going to name them that but after landing gracefully on the butter and eating as desired, they gracefully lifted back into the air. Couldn't call them butter stuck so they had to call them butterflies.
Now why do you want to be mean to your Granny?

When first discovered, they were actually called flutterbyes ... as in they flutter by. In time their name was changed to butterflies.
Why on earth would you even think of hurting your grandma?! :(
