Annie is right now 1/5 of 30, or 6. Now you need x years such that:

(6 + x) / (30 + x) = 3/5
5 (6 + x) = 3 (30 + x)
30 + 5x = 90 + 3x
2x = 60
x = 30

In 30 years, Annie will be 6 + 30 = 36 and her uncle will be 30 + 30 = 60. 3/5 of 60 is 36.

(2) In 6 years, Alvin will be 30 and his younger brother will be 1/3 of that which is 10. That means that Alvin is currently 30 - 6 = 24 and his younger brother is 10 - 6 = 4.

Now you need x such that:

(4 + x) / (24 + x) = 3/5
5 (4 + x) = 3 (24 + x)
20 + 5x = 72 + 3x
2x = 52
x = 26

In 26 years, Alvin will be 24 + 26 = 50, and his brother will be 4 + 26 = 30. 30 is 3/5 of 50.

Since U=30 and Annie is 1/5 this, she is 6

So U - A = 30 - 6 = 24
