but all they do is scan. once i want them to delete the bad things they find, it says that i have to pay to get the full version (which will then delete these). are there any free programs that will delete the spyware (or cookies or whatever) that it finds?

I would go with the free version of a program that my IT company uses called BitDefender, it to us is the best protection out there. Also most spyware is in your temporary Internet files, so you can boot into safe mode and delete your temp files and that will normally remove any spyware but not viruses.

do you mind telling me what things you used? I rate/review software and am interested in seeing if they are new types of software known as 'rogue' antispyware.
