Should be fine as long as you are never so tired when caring for the baby that you scratch or poke him/her....so if you have lots of help and are able to sleep every night...why not...just make sure to keep them really clean. (I have heard of moms who get to sleep...it may be an urban legend though)

I would suggest have them cut pretty short or you will probably scratch your baby. Not to mention the whole poop thing. And make sure the edges aren't sharp and that they are smooth. I had them too when my baby was born and I tried it for a little while with them, but soon realized that I needed to get them off or get them cut shorter. With the shorter cut, I could manage baby so much easier. They are just little wiggle worms and you never know what might happen so even if you are able to do everything just fine right now with the length, you will probably have problems with the baby. It's just too hard to keep a hold of the baby and try not to worry about scratching them or doing anything else.

No as long as you dont scratch the baby but you can do that with your own nails too, so just make sure to keep them extra clean underneath. You know how they get, and you and baby will be fine.
Congratulations on the new addition!!
God Bless!!!!

I wouldn't risk it because of all the chemicals. (Especially wouldn't do it while preggers either.)
But after reading ****Sparkles**** reply, I rreallllyyy wouldn't risk it. A safe baby is preferable to long nails any day. No?
I've always had weak nails, but from my 2nd trimester to now (My breastfed babe is 5 1/2 months) my nails have never been better. Long (for me) and lovely. You may find you won't need your acrylics after all.
Good luck, and congratulations!

Yes it is fine. I have nails and I got a little sister. Just make sure there not that long and you get like the rond square. Also be sure to wash under your nails because if you dont it will be dirty in there and it can get the baby sick!

The fumes from getting them done are toxic to babies in or out of the womb. Don't get them done anymore while you're pregnant and after the baby is born, don't take him/her to the salon when you're getting them done.
The actual nails won't harm the baby, but the chemicals in the fumes will.

i know the OBGYN and pediatrician advised against getting them while pregnant because of the chemicals. I did let my nails grow out though and yes it does make is hard while doing diaper changes espeically if you are half asleep and trying to do a diaper change or feeding or when you are trying to change the babys' clothes.

i would say that those are safer than natural nails bc they really aren't sharp at all. you might want to get them trimmed a little extra short so you are less likely to get stuff under them and get a good nail brush and scrub under them every time you handle something potentially germy so you don't pass anything along to the baby. sounds to me like a good way to insure some Mommy alone time ;)

I would like you to read this. Then you can determine if you still want to wear them. All kinds of bacteria grow under the nail of acrylic fingernails.

I'm a nail tech and no they can't hurt your baby, except if you scartch it or something. I would advise you to not take the baby in the salon when you have them done but other than that you are fine.
