This country has survived a very long time without fighting a war on our own soil. I believe that we will probably be attacked just prior to the '08 elections so that His Dictatorship can declare martial law and remain in power.

Maybe I am a little bit of an extremist but then, people do tend to be extreme when it comes to what they love.

Well that dependson how you define major attack.

I don't think there will be another attack like 9/11 but I do think there will be other terror attacks on the US.

I don't think the war in Iraq is doing anything to make the US safer, if anything I think it is making the defence of the US worse.

If you think about it, the US has a lot of it's armed forces serving in Iraq and Afganistan so there are less people in the US to patrol the entry points or to react to an attack. Also the terrorists are getting a lot of recruits from Iraq, anytime a US soldier shoots somebody the terrorists gain a new recruit from the dead guys family.

So I think we will see some smaller scale bombings in the US.

I agree that there are areas where we are still vulnerable and it would be foolish to assume they will not try to attack us again.

That being said...it's been nearly 6 years since 9-11. And we've foiled dozens of additional attempts, and those are just the ones we've heard about. Approval numbers be damned! Bush is doing a good job of protecting us.

The same people who say that the 9-11 attacks were Bush's responsibility are now claiming that He is just trying to scare us to take away more of our freedoms. Now, if we ARE attacked again, the same loudmouths will be claiming that Bush didn't do enough to keep us safe.
You just can't please some people, so why even try?

There will be other terrorist attacks on American soil. This is an absolute fact. It is only a matter of time before we will bleed again. What I fear most is that terrorists will detonate a nuke in an American city. I don't fear this because of the death toll to Americans, which would be staggering and horrible, but rather for the vengeance that would be unleashed upon the world as a result.

Agree.
Bush administration has made it even more dangerous.
They ALLOWED Al Qaeda/Taliban to regroup and reorganize.
Don't think the terrorists haven't taken advantage of the respite afforded to them by the Invasion of IRAQ.
RESPITE?
REJUVENATION.

Now their recruits can do Basic Training in Afghanistan and get hands on experience in IRAQ.

The Invasion of IRAQ was a gift to Terrorist movement.

This is like predicting the second coming. If it happens people will say I told you so and if it doesn't people will say it just hasn't happened yet.
There will always be a danger of terrorist strikes - there are a lot of people out there who do not like us - and invading Iraq is not going to get rid of them.

No, I don't think so. That isn't the issue. Refugees are the issue along with extremism and poverty. The destabilization will continue as long as troops are there. It is time to pull them out and try to broker a ceasefire and peace deal between warring factions so that sectarian violence comes to an end.

It's inevitable.

They may hurt us some but it won't be anything like the retaliation they will suffer because of it.
