Have you read something I haven't? I've seen a couple of rumors, but they've all been refuted.

Be that as it may: I think the Pirates are trying to clear a space in the lineup for Brian Bixler, who's having a heckuva season in AAA with Indianapolis (.290 batting average, .809 OPS, 5 HR, 40 RBI). As much as I hate to admit it, the Pirates are pretty much out of the playoff race for they year. Izturis and Castillo should be able to plug the hole for a few months if Wilson gets traded and before Bixler is ready to take over in '08. Neither of them is great, but given that Wilson is having a rather poor offensive season, it's not a huge drop.

Is it a good decision? Really, it's too soon to tell. If Bixler comes up and proves immediately that he deserves the position, then it will have been brilliant. If he doesn't, then shortstop will become like center field has been for several years for the Bucs - a revolving door of prospects that end up failing.

if they trade him it will turn out better for the pirates. He's overrated and they can get someone good in return

I mean his defense is good, but offensively he blows!

But considering the Pirates have nothing better, it's a bad move.
