We don't, yet.

Its very doubtful that there will be cities in space anytime in the next 2 decades. It is to costly at the present moment to launch the building supplies needed to build a single building much less an entire city. The only reason we would need to live in space is that humans will become to numerous for the earth to support sometime in the future.

The current plan by NASA is to begin building a permanent manned moon base sometime between 2020 and 2024.

The purpose of a permanent moon base is to launch future manned spaceflights to explore the planet Mars.

The unmanned Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter will be launched next year in a search for water in the rocks of the Moon's south pole. Beginning around 2014, NASA plans the beginning of manned flights to orbit the Moon to explore possible sites to build the base.

The European Space Agency also plans to send unmanned probes to Mars including a rover in 2009. They are also planning a manned landing on Mars between 2024 and 2034.

Russia also is considering a manned exploration of Mars between 2016 and 2020.

"We" does not mean you and I. We means astronauts who are representing us as a people. It will take many journeys to the planet Mars before any permanent bases will be considered to be built there. And those bases would be used by astronauts to further explore the planet.

In 10 to 20 years many things are possible. However, in your question the term "we" is suspicious... Do you mean a few people (as is astronauts) ? Or, did you mean the all inclusive "we" (as in all of us, everywhere)???

There will not be cities.

There may be expeditions to distant places for a small number of crew members.

However, I would not try to visualize a Hong Kong on Mars anytime in the forseeable future.

What's your definition of a city? There's already people living on the ISS doing reasearch. There isn't much point in going up there except for research or fun though.

or look up "space law/politics" - i was fielding questions

the intl space station is seen as a first step to permanent human settlement in space and on celestial bodies,

with regards to infrastructure, we have plans to have inflatable structures in space and on the moon

there have been plans to have a moon hotel, but people have cited many ethical issues, because the UN treaties states that space shall be the "province of mankind" and therefore we can explore space (outer space treaty article 1) but subject to international law and the rights of other countries

so are the following allowed: space brothels, space factories, space military bases? the second one is debatable- the moon treaty talks of establishing a reigieme for controlling the exploitation of minerals on the moon

space is going to get sexy very soon, says one space academic (my teacher)

he says that in our lifetime its gonna get v . sexy and we're all gonna get the chance to be space tourists

Very doubtful. It seems like every generation has made that prediction for over a century.

No

It is too expensive and there are few jobs in space. pure economics say that we will stay right here on earth.
