Do you tip the pizza guy? Reason I'm asking, work at a pizza place and am amazed at how many times the drivers get stiffed. We do charge $1.25 for delivery. However, only some of that goes to the driver. Currently, they get $0.81 per delivery. But they drive their own cars and have to pay for gas. What do you base your tip on?

If your pizza place charges for delivery, that's not the drivers fault. Subtracting the charge from the tip doesn't do anything for the driver.
And to TK9804, most of these people aren't getting as big of orders as you are. Kudos for being so appreciative!
I'd really like to hear from people who don't tip and why.

If somebody is providing a convenience such as delivery, a $5 tip should be the absolute minimum. Isn't it worth $5 so you can sit on your *ss and watch American Idol or some other crap instead of going to get a pizza? If not, don't order delivery, get your lazy *ss off the couch and go pick it up.

All individuals who deliver piping hot pizzas should receive a tip. If the pizza is cold, they should get nothing. When the box is felt you will know. Also, if you don't tip and order at the same place the driver will always make you the last stop. Giving an absolute guarantee of a cold pizza. Oil prices(gas at pump) would suggest a tip is necessary.

I tip 20%. I think 10% is recommended though, I feel like a cheapskate just tipping 10.
Edited to say: Wow! I just read through the responses - are these people low or am I high? Our $100 pizza order got a $25 tip. He had to bring 6 pizzas in & he helped set them up for us.

I base my tip on whether or not the pizza place charges more for a delivery. If it is the same price as pick up then the delivery guy gets a bigger tip.
I don't think it's fair to charge a higher price for a delivered pizza. It's still being baked in the same oven, and the cook isn't delivering it. The pizza place should leave the extra fee for the delivery guy.

I always give 'em at least $4-5, since my development is stupidly numbered, and if they get it to me REALLY fast, I'll give 'em at least $6.
However, my favorite pizza place doesn't deliver to my neighborhood, so this isn't usually an issue.

Our pizza joint doesn't deliver, so I never order out, but if I did I'd tip 15% minimum. Hello people - the guy is bringing you food, don't be cheap.
