Because their PC dogma seeks to control thought by controlling language. They will need to recreate the political vocabulary every 10 years or so, as the words they choose to replace old "offensive" words become offensive themselves. It's tiring being a fascist, and the libs get cranky.

Liberals don't get upset when gay is used as an insult. People who understand that speaking of another person's identity in a derogatory manner is hurtful will get upset. To use someone's sexual identity as an insult is wrong. By using "gay" as an insult, you are belittling the sexual identity as well as the person to whom you are speaking.

Probably for the same reason many non-liberals do. Because "gay" isn't an insult to begin with. Gay means either "happy" or "homosexual". Unless one is militantly melancholy and/or homophobic, one shouldn't find it the least bit insulting but instead probably becomes annoyed at it's ignorant misuse.

Because Gay most often refers to homosexuals. It is simply implying that homosexuality is an insult, and it shouldn't be.
