"Stop driving so damn fast"..."Grandma I am only going 15 mph. I can walk faster"..."Well back in my day we didn't have these fast cars that you youngsters have today. And we were patient too. That's what you kids have to learn"..."Grandma I am not a kid, I am 30 years old"....[silence mainly because she probably tired herself out]...5 minutes later we repeat the same conversation, mainly because she forgot what we were talking about.

When anyone complained about anything they couldn't change, Grandpa would look at them, pause a moment, and say, "Make the best of it". Pretty good advice.

We always had Sunday dinner with my grandparents. Grandma fixed good food and lots of it. She expected you to stuff yourself, and if anyone didn't do so you could count on hearing. "Eat! Eat! Land sakes, isn't it any good?!"

I miss them both.

Granddad: " stop swinging on that chair!" "Get outside and play!" and my favourite, " Keep the noise down you kids!" he often says it when we're not making any noise at all. Maybe it's just to remind us to keep it that way. Doesn't explain the glare he gives us though.... oh well.
Grandma: " Pass us that beer love, and my smokes too. There's a good girl" it's funniest when she says it to my brother.
