Self-loathing is where one seems to dislike one's self to the point of self sabotage in my opinion.

On stage as far as musicals go. The movie was good, but something annoys me about the industry's need to get an all-star cast for everything anymore. Maybe I should start my own production company :-)

Wow--those are two amazingly different questions...

Self-loathing is to loathe (or despise) yourself...we all go through it from time to time, but some live in that constant state. Very sad.

Hairspray, however, is fun and funny in both versions, though slightly different. I adore John Travolta in that role, so perhaps the new one is for me.
