I for one would defintely would want immortality. Reason: I want to learn everything there is about the world and the Universe. I would travel to distant stars finding answers to everything in life. If it is possible can come someone tell me how? This is a serious question. Wouldn't you want immortality?

Immortality. Well, now, that's a question I've approached many times and my answer has always been, "Yes. Yes indeed."

At this time we have arrived at the point where we have a good handle on the mechanics of the ageing and dying process and the knowledge and technology to extend the human life-span from two to three times without an immense amount of work. That means that living to 200 is easily within our reach without having to do a lot of genetic work to make it happen.

I think something very close to immortality is not too far away in terms of time -- say in the next 100 years or so, perhaps a bit longer. That will occur on the biological level. Then will come the fruits of nanotechnology that has the potential of extending life to indefinite periods, but with a built-in death escape clause. That is, when living becomes too much to bear, you have the choice to opt out.... That, by the way, is a large part of one of my recent novels -- Xenogenesis.

So, sure, I'd go for it -- knowing I could step out of the loop if I wanted to.

Yes, I would want immortality IF I could be 20 years younger with the wiser knowledge that I have now. Unfortunately, life seems to go in the opposite direction! I have the feeling that you are young and that's fine to have dreams; just know that there is still a lot to learn about life.

ABSOLUTELY!!! Most people that wouldn't want to live forever use 'friends and family die off' as a silly excuse. I don't keep friends that long, and my family has already died off.

I love new technology, have only been on the net for about 13 years, but don't remember life before it... can't wait to see what the next 13 years will bring!!

I wouldn't travel to distant stars,,, won't even get in a plane unless I could be the screener (too close call w/ 9/11), but I would go search for Atlantis.

If you don't learn something new every day, your brain will rust. Then you'll have to squirt WD-40 into your ears and people will think you're crazy.

Also, I gotta live long enough to spend my inheritance.

Long live long life!!!

i searched for immortality and i can tell you that it doesnt exist. We were born to life and die. If i had the chance to live forever, i would have to say no. I would hate to watch every single person that i love die before my eyes. I would begin to miss my "time". Miss everything that i grew up with. I would live a life alone. i would be too afraid to make new friends and fall in love again. I would never die and they would. it would hurt too much.
Of course if i was immortal i would strive to becoming rich. but i would begin to want the eternal sleep. Living is very tiring.
so then, to be immortal is to already be alone. To like change.
I have many people that i love. I wouldnt want to see the suffer and die infront of me.
whatever i want to achieve as an immortal i will achieve as a mortal. In the end, i will not die with regrets. No need for immortality.

I WILL NOT GRAB IMMORTALITY... why??because every man is created with an end--and that is the thing we call death!!immortality is for legacy!that's what i'm trying to imply...having endless life is so boring..because though you can experience everything in the world, you are also prone to the hateful things you can ever see!!better to live and die..because thats the essence of life!1

Immortality. There is no such thing, so why waste time on something that you can't have.
The worldly things that you crave can be had without being on the planet forever.
Be careful that you don't sell your soul to the devil. Someone did that and he had an ugly portrait in his attic, and no friends.

Greed is an interesting state to experience, the greed for knowledge and the greed for life is no different than greed for any other object.

Immortality is the epitome of greed. There is no end to the craving.

"Ab-so-freaking-lute-ly!" Bring it baby! Bring it! (If god is listening) Yes Please! But I can't forget something once I learn it! Other wise, once I learn some thing on this side of the galaxy, I'll probably forget what it was once I reach the other side... And that would SUK!

No i want to die just like any other being. Being alive is like a rollercoaster it has its ups and downs. when i die i will finally be at peace. Dying when your suppose to is a precious thing besides giving life to someone else.

If God allows it for all, yes. As long as the world is peaceful.
