Let's assume you live in America, and you are an American who marries this Illegal Alien for all the right reasons...you both fell in love, regardless of money involved.

You get married, then your spouse fills out and files all the necessary paperwork to stay in this country.

Well, next, Department of Homeland Security will give your spouse a choice of either leaving on her own, or being deported. If she leaves on her own, it could take 5 or more years to get back here because she was here illegally originally. If she is deported, she may have to wait 10 years to come back, and there is no guarantee.

So, simply marrying an American doesn't guarantee she stays. What made it bad was the fact that she was here to begin with. If she snuck back to her country, and you petitioned her legally, she would have a greater chance of being in this country legally sooner than later.

Tell her that the punishment for entering into a marriage with an illegal alien for ANY other reason other than good faith is a felony with heavy fines and often includes jail time.

You can be prosecuted if it's discovered.
They may well check if you're living together,
and go even further if they 'smell a rat`.
