Install the driver of those devices from their CDs. or you might need to install USB drivers from the CD of your motherboard.

While there can be multiple possibilities the first thing to do is eliminate the possibilities through experimentation. While this sounds complicated its quite easy. Connect a USB keyboard and mouse to determine if its a problem with all USB devices. I they work in all ports then you know it's not a problem with the port itself but device drivers not being load. If it cannot detect the USB devices I would use a Live CD version of Windows which runs in memory. This will allow us to determine if the problem is software related or hardware. If it doesn't work still I would say that the USB ports are dead.
p. s. their still more steps that you can do but it wouldn't be economically feasible to continue these tests.

You kinda contradict yourself, if the ports are working (aws you claim) with some devices, then the porrts are NOT at fault.
Sounds more like a driver issue for the devices.
When you connect a device does the C go bong to show a new device plugged in ?
If not, try going into the control panel then device manager, and removing all USB ROOT HUBS then rebooting, force windows to update IT's drivers for the ports themselves.

A typical problem. I have the same problem with my Dell, I only have one USB port that reads external devices.
It is a pain to plug the camera into the back of my computer and none of them read a flash drive or my IPOD. Which I hat because I get really sick of having to always log into my work to send my documents to my drive.

I just went through that and I believe that its a way Microsoft is telling you have a reengage program. Microsoft work on my computer for 25 hours after everything started going bad. Microsoft was shutting down my program because I had a counterfeit software.

How do you know they are working properly, if they don't detect anything, see if they are disabled in the bios.
