Style.

True, there are some authors who can write an exciting and compelling book with nothing more to recommend it than an exciting story. The real sign of a good author and a great book, however, is the ability to take a dull, dry plot and entice the reader with nothing but beautiful prose. Of course, a combination of the two is always nice.

I'm not sure which one I consider more important. The story is really important, because if you don't begin with a good story, the greatest style in the world can't really help you. But, if you do have a good story and no style at all, that can destroy the enjoyment of the story.

for me,the story is more important for it deals with the content of the story itself..it carries the substance and the points of view in the story..ahhmm..i know style is also essential cause it gives more color and twist in the story but then what is the use of having such excellent style if the subject matter is not totally discussed or at hand??and besides, style is just an element in the story..but story encomprise the whole...anyway,it's just an opinion from my own understanding...

the style. anyone can make up a story but its the way u sell it that depends if it will be a hit or flop. if the author's style isn't flowing and connecting the story becomes hard to follow and understand. the story won't make much sense.

I don't know, I guess I would say story on the whole, but there are some books, like Carrie, that I like because of the way they are written and not the story so much. It depends.

Story and plot. I would go for style if it is fresh, hip and interesting, and meshed well with the story. A good example of this would be "Catcher in the Rye."

~Theme. Oops, that would be in writing. In reading I guess it would be to know how to do it. From the inanity of the question, you unfortunately do not.
