When the Supreme Court gave corporations equal rights as a citizen. In the 1990's the Supreme Court declared that corporations have the same rights and freedoms as citizens and that they are allowed to have unlimited freedoms and can spend any amount of money for all the rights under the Constitution and that regulation is unconstitutional. Hence, the unlimited take-overs, and money spent on lobbiests and commercials promoting unpatriotic and downright hostile laws against the American people. They had unlimited money before that, but now they have unlimited access to all media and all government officials. We are a fascist state, I'm afraid.

all "Republic" means is that each state is allowed it's own legislative powers

I don't understand why the GOPers always rant "WE"RE A REPUBLIC WE"RE A REPUBLIC" as though it's justification for their political existence -

hundreds of countries across the globe are "Republics" - Niger, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Poland, etc -

what sets our Repubic apart from the rest is our Democratic process - it's truly what made America great and set us apart to be a beacon to the rest of the world

During the administration of FDR. He did the most damage to the original intent of the Republican (the ideology, not the party) Constiution of the United States than anyone before or after. His social programs to try to get us out of the Great Depression all failed and it lasted well into WWII. It was only after the restoration of free market values, that the USA finally emerged from the Great Depression, but the socialistic programs and precedence of the FDR administration are still a huge hinderance on Conservatism and the Constitution the way the Founding Fathers meant for the government of the USA.

Yes but the party names tend to be misleading. Republicans are not all about making a republic and the democrats are not all about forming a democracy. Generally speaking republicans want a capitalist society and the dems want a socialist society (one step from communism).

When a political party is successful at lying about what it stand for and lying about what the other party stands for and is able to fool the electorate then the republic is gone.
