Republicans have some odd beliefs, such as, "A tax cut will result in increased revenue." This is a bit like saying, "We're taking a loss on every unit sold, but we'll make up for it by an increase in the volume of our sales." In the case of Dubya, there are some commentators who believe that deficits are a deliberate tactic to eliminate social programs by forcing budget cuts.

To answer this question with any validity would require too much research and comparison - and the political affiliation of the majority in Congress under each President would also have to be factored in along with any data which might indicate that the preceding President's policies were spilling over into the replacement President's term - way to many factors to be considered in order to validate a statement such as your question. And worse, when there are many factors involved, it's far too easy to draw conclusions from the cherry picked data that support the researcher's pre-conceived opinions.
Suffice it to say that I have not found this to be always true. The economy and the debt goes up and down regardless of who's on Capital Hill.
Personally speaking, I had my wages frozen with a Republican in office (Nixon) - but I lost my job due to the company relocating overseas with a Democrat in office (Clinton). It's pretty shaky to try and draw any parallels between events such as these or the economy or job security based on who's in office at the time.
We have brilliant and dumb republicans just as we have had brilliant and dumb democrats - and, in my opinion, if we disregard the extreme left and right nut jobs, any real differences in their ideologies are beginning to get pretty blurred.

Less job security as opposed to record lows for unemployment? I do remember reading a few weeks ago about how 600,000 jobs have been given to legal Americans since Bush has been running the show.

Heedons right on the money,I suggest you go back to the Reagan era.He fixed the economy, completly wiped out national debt, brought a sense of pride to being an US citizen.Bush sr continued this,It was all democrats in the office before that whom gave us the debt,And it was Clinton who got all the glory, for Reagan and Bushes hard work.I suggest you get your head out of your a** and look at history, instead of hearing yours or someone else's opinion before you open your mouth(respectfully)

As far as debt is concerned, because they lower taxes and increase spending, and borrow the money to pay for the spending. They claim they want to decrease spending and the size of government, but when they have the chance they never do.
Edit: Thumbs down to the truth. Reagan almost TRIPLED the national debt -- never reduced the size of government.
See below -- totally the opposite of what really happened

Part of your problem is your expecting the gov't to give you job security you should be responsible for yourself but you are being true to your Dem ideals - it's somebody elses responsibility to make sure you have things!

Look back at you history. Three of the last four Republican presidents (Nixon, Bush, Bush) have had to deal with a war situation. War costs money I'm afraid. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. Funny how no one picks him apart.

Because to a republican big business is the be all and end all. It's an unsustainable system in a free society - but they still keep trying.

Because they lack the world view that we are all in this together and the don`t believe in government they believe that government is something out to get them. I think it traces back to their mean dads.
