I installed this game (Zoo Tycoon 2) and for some reason whenever I start to load it this thing pops up and says that the PC doesn't have enough video memory (Which it does.) What's going on?

It may be that you have integrated graphics card, not stand-alone PCI/AGP graphics card. The integrated card may not be able to support the requirements for the game.

Zoo tycoon 2 requires 16 MBs of video memory... You should note that video memory is not the same as system memory. So you may have the 256MB of system memory required but not the 16MB of video memory. You might be able to allocate more memory in you're BIOS or something but it's not a good place unless you really know what you're doing. You might be able to fix the problem by lowering your game resolution (ie. 1280x1024 to 800x600). You could also look and see if you can download a patch for the game if it is a bug and your sure that you can run it.

If you're using shared memory (esp on a laptop), you may be needing more "umph" on the mobo to process the game, and the memory isn't being used on the graphics card.

Best way to figure things out, is go to the game's home page, and delve into the faqs. If that does not help, make a "ticket" with the producer's technical staff. They will need some detailed info on your computer. Mobo, CPU, Memory, OS build, etc.
They will also need to know what version of the game you're running (if you haven't "patched-up" recently, do it now, and try to boot it up again). If that does not work, try patching up all your drivers (video, sound, etc) too. Once done, try running the game again. If all this doesn't work (patching everything up tends to clear *most* problems).

Good luck!

you might have a video card that shares memory, if so, you might consider a better video card with on-board memory.

some computers allow you to change the amount of memory allocated to the video card under your bios settings.
