I was wondering about these questions. They're not important but I missed a chunk of Lost and I was just curious.
1. Why was Hurley in Australia?
2. Why was Sayeed going to America?
3. Did Rosseau have Alex before or after she arrived on the island and how did she get there?
4. Is Kate's mum alive or dead?
5. What did Kate do for work before she went on the run and how long has she been on the run?

I got you covered.
1. Hurley was in Austrailia to talk with the guy who was Leonard's partner when they heard the numbers being broadcast. But he was already dead when he got there.
2. Sayid was told that his lost love Nadia was in L.A.
3. We don't know who Alex's true father is and I am not so sure crazy Rosseau even knows, she is either a terrible liar or just freaking nuts.
4. Kate's mom died from the cancer shortly after Kate escaped capture at the hospital.
5. We have no idea what she did before as far as work.

OK, I may not remember exactly but here's the best I can do: 1. Hurley came to Australia looking for the man who gave the "numbers" to the guy Hurley befriended in the mental institution. The Australian man was dead, but his wife told Hurley that he got the numbers (which of course caused him all sorts of misery) from a radio transmission in the Pacific (probably the island itself since the same numbers were on the door of the hatch). 2. Sayeed was escaping from the Iraqi Guard after he freed a woman he knew years before who was about to be tortured or killed by them. 3. Alex was born on the Island. 4. It's unknown whether Kate's mom is still alive, but I would think she probably is. 4. She's been on the run since she killed her abusive step-dad, which was at least a few years before she got to the island. I don't recall if it was ever discussed what she was doing at that time, but she was young and may just have been a high school student.

I don't know the answers to all the questions but I will answer the ones I know.
1 The Guy in the Mental institution said that He would find the answers to the numbers in Australia
2 To reunite with his girlfriend
3 I think Rosseau had Alex shortly after she arrived on the island. Rosseau was on a research ship that crashed on the island.
4. Up till the time that kate crashed on the island she was still alive.
5 don't know the answer to that one

1. Hurley was in Australia because he was looking for a guy who supposedly knew about the curse of the numbers he had used to play the lottery who lived in Australia.
2. Sayeed was going to America because he was transferred from his military unit thing? not entirely sure aobut hat one.
3. Rosseau had Alex on the island and she crashed on the island in a boat on an expedition but everyone else on the boat died.
4. Kate's mom is alive (as far as we know).
5. Unsure... I could've missed something that I don't remember but as far as I can tell they haven't said.

1-he was meeting the guy in the nut house about the numbers
2-he was looking for his girlfriend or atleast the woman in the photo he was in love with
3-she had Alex on the island and she was on the ship that crashed (the lack rock?)
