Check out freecycle.org, check out local schools... maybe they have a bullitin board with something to trade for laptop, ask friends and family to keep a lookout.
If you're near big office buildings, make a nice flyer asking that if anyone has a used one that they'd be willing to donate to a needy student, yadda, yadda, yadda. Also, while you're at these big office buildings, go talk to the Human Resources dept and tell them your sad state.
I have only tossed two computers. One laptop that had a broken screen, and another that was over 10 years old. I've got an assortment of 'old computers', and I'm sure many others do as well, that are just sitting around doing nothing (they're "just in case") LOL!

A few days before, getting a brand new laptop 'FREE OF COST' seemed to be a fairy tale. Today the scenario has changed magically.
No, I'm not talking about any online point system game or any similar things.
Just visit the link and then in the opened page go to Promotion tab. There is Apple MacBook, Sony VAIO and HP Pavillion laptops to choose from.

All the sites "claiming" to offer a free laptop are cams, you either need to get 25,000 others to sign up for something (pyramid schemes), or jump through hoops, and sign upto 25,000,000 daily emails for junk that you CANNOT remove yourself from.
Seriously, get a part time job, save the money, buy a basic laptop.

no such thing. there are sites out there that make the claim. you give them your email adress, and they give you a mailbox full of spam.
