What's wrong with the gas guage on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?

the gas gauge stays on zero....but it goes to 50% or higher wen i full up to 50 or past that. the same thing aslo happens with the digital meter

you may have a loose ground wire on it causing this,but on the gas gage it may just be the sending unit going bad in the tank on it,that will cause this to happen to it,check all the ground wires especially around the gas tank area,good luck with it.

May have a bad sending unit in the tank. The ball may have a leak and is not floating correctly.

sending unit assembly needs replacing.
