I think you are forgetting the fact that our congress is mainly composed of democrats. Therefore, they are just as responsible for the growing debt as the republicans are. Try to view the situation more objectively.

*Edit*

Why all the thumbs down? Don't you realize that all the social programs supported by liberals cost a big chunk of change?

Of course debt matters, if you want to cut debt let's start by cutting the entitlement programs that are blown out of control. By the way don't start pounding your chest and pretend to be a fiscally responsible democrat, that's a joke in itself. Also wasn't it the democrat congress this year that passed the largest budget in US history (2.9 trillion i believe).

It's sad our education system has done such a lousy job with these people - and hate radio has twisted the truth into pretzel shapes.

The true conservatives have turned independent mostly.

The debt is important. But conversely how do you think Democrats are going to lower it any more than republicans when they raise tax's? More tax's mean businesses will be less likely to hire new employees or expand. Cutting there contributions to the irs and increasing the risk on the average tax payer. Less tax's generate more irs revenue. Its just a fact.

We're in hiding, awaiting for our chance to spring back out and take over from the insanity on both sides. Since the Demo's don't care about the debt size, EITHER, they're the original T&S artists, pot calling kettle, hello.

Could you name anyone that has actually said that the debt doesn't matter?

Could you actually demonstrate your incredible grasp of Economics by explaining precisely why the debt DOES matter to the average person?

I don't actually believe you know what harm it does to the average citizen, I think you believe that all of its harm is as a "ticking time bomb" in the future. Prove me wrong. Tell me why it matters to ME, here and now. I know, but I don't think you do.

And name anyone who has said it doesn't matter at all in the past ten years. I know the Liberal hero of Economics, John Maynard Keynes said that, but he was a fool anyway.

I am a conservative .The debt does not bother me at all right now. there is nothing i can do today. Will have to wait to vote. Will there be a change? I doubt it.Just more lies and promises unkept. But the DOW Killed me.

It would be hilarious, except I haven't heard a lot of people say that. I've heard people downplay the debt as a percent of GNP (which is crap. 8 trillion is 8 trillion, no matter how you cut it).
