from my childhood when my parents emotionally neglected me, laughed at my faults and discouraged me: ' you will never be successful in life because you are a handicap '

May I first say that I think most people gave you their true feelings & that's good. However, while I usually don't pay attention to thumbs down, I couldn't help noticing that before I even got to the second page, EVERY answer had a thumbs down. Someone seems to be enjoying this......
Some of the answers made me sad, because the things that were said to them were so cruel. Yet I have to honestly say that no word or phrase would hurt me. The ones that are mean-spirited are from people not worthy of evoking any emotion from me. Even if it were a sincere "I don't love you anymore," I'd think--well, that's all there is to that, & move on. I empathize with people who are sensitive. That is the way they ARE, but I do wish they could learn to consider the source, the reason, (if valid), & not upset themselves by ugly WORDS. (Sticks & stones....?)

There are only a few people who could really say something that would actually hurt me.

Many can swear at me in any number of languages any number of times and I wouldn't give it a second thought...but a few people really close to me can say almost anything near offensive and hurt me.

For me, it's not what is said, but who says it.

There are only three people in the universe who could hurt me with just a word. I'm married to one and the father of the others.

Mocking God. Using His name in a way that is meant to hurt. He is the one that deserves the most respect, yet He is the one that gets the least.

That is what hurts me most.

Niggeer!

It is the most hurtful word to me because I would definitely hurt my hands on anybody that said it to my face.

I don't love you anymore. No one else can hurt me outside my family circle with words. If my wife said this then that would be the end of my world.

Your stepfather telling you, "you will never be anything more than a common whore.
your mother saw what you were from the moment you were born and died of shame because she could not handle the little c. u. n. t she brought into it.

"hate"

when you utter this word, you are killing all beings that hear it. when you speak this word about a third party with another, all three are hated. the molecular arrangment of the cells in your body gets scrambled; poisoned.

this is the un-holy grandfather of all four letter words and yet y! allows it un-****-ed

when ever i used this word as a child around my grandmother, she would, without fail, always remind me:
"no hate; only love"
.derngud advice,eh?
