"Walking distance" means different things to different people. Note, though, that the Metro (subway, though it's aboveground nearby) has a stop right at Shea, making access rather easy from many parts. And, no, you won't get mugged on the train. Panhandled, maybe, but not mugged.

walking distance yea after the game you can go right back to your room and get some sleep or watch movies or tv or whatever and in the hotel they should put 1 12 ft swimming pool and a 3 foot spa and put in a spot right behind where the plaza is so they can see the game from there also

No, not within walking distance, take the Long Island RR to Manhattan, and stay there.
