It makes a pat, pat, pat sound when it accelerates is it supposed to sound like that. It has a 225 slant six engine. Its a 1975 duster.

I would really need to hear it, but it sounds like a cracked exhaust manifold or blown manifold gasket. Gasket would be no problem to fix, I dont know about the availability of a manifold.

From the description, it is hard to tell. It may be exhaust related. A leak somewhere in the exhaust. Could be a problem with the engine. Just so hard to say, a lot of things can make cars sound funny. The next time you go for gas, ask the attendent what the funny noise is. good luck.

Sounds like a blown exhaust manifold gasket.

with the info you provided it sounds like eather the timing is off or u might have a bent rod
