Hi there, well if she lost 6 pounds it could be due to a number of things. If she suffers with naseau or heartburn then she most likely wouldnt be eating as much so therefore she could lose some weight. She typically should have gained about 10 pounds by now, its usually about 4-6 pounds in the first trimester and then 1 pound a week thereafter. You will typically see her start to show at about 3 months but that will only be noticeable by you and her. At about 4 months it will start to be obvious to the public (depending on the clothing she wears) and at 5 months, everyone will know. By the end of the 5th month, the baby is about 8-10 inches and its one of the most rapid times of growth during the pregnancy. Make sure you keep an eye on her...has she increased her excercise routine? Has she started to cut back on foods or has she started making comments about not wanting to get fat? She may just be eating the same amount as she did before but her metabolism is higher right now and her appetite more demanding but she may be trying to avoid eating more. She may be afraid of gaining weight and may be trying to lose weight now so she wont gain so much. If that is the case, which she may not admit to, then you have a big problem because the baby's most crucial growth is now and the baby needs the nutrients. Has the doctor expressed any concern?

Yea this happens to a lot of woman. I never gained a pound until I was 5 months along and thats when I started to see a belly. Everyone is diff though if this is your first baby then it usually takes longer to show like around 5 months but if youve had a baby before then it can be 3-4 it all really depends though. As long as shes eating healthy I wouldnt worry she will start to gain weight soon just ask the doctor if they can check if the baby is growing and gaining the weight the baby needs because thats what I did and they told me she was. Good luck!

Unless she is overweight to begin with then its usually not good to lose weight while pregnant. You say she has lost only 2 pounds but then say she was 154 and now 148 so that is a total loss of 6 lbs. At 16 weeks she should have gained approximately 15 lbs by now. I would speak to her doctor.

That is very normal to lose weight in the beginning of pregnancy. She will probably start getting a belly at around 5 or 6 months don't worry your wife is fine, and if your doctor sees something wrong he Will definitely let you know.

Depending on her height, she might have had a couple of extra pounds to start with, so it's not that big of a deal. In the end, if the doctor is not concerned, you shouldn't be.
I lost 14 pounds during my first 4 months, because of nausea and just not wanting to eat. Fortunately, the baby gets the best of everything.
Your wife might just pop out one day and you'll see that little belly on her suddenly.

It's perfectly normal to lose weight during early pregnancy due to morning sickness and/or nausea preventing you from eating as much as you normally would.
I have lost weight with all three of my children due to gestational diabetes, which is something she will be screened for soon. I lost weight because of a special diet, however,
My doctor told me that if you are a normal, healthy woman that you do not NEED to gain weight to grow a baby. It is reccomended to gain some if you are underweight to start with, however.
I hope this helps.

yep! it's perfectly normal not to show until later in the pregnancy. it just means she's carring the baby towards the back of her uterus and not out front. and as for losing a couple pounds, i wouldnt worry in the least. she's got a little guy in there sucking her dry! lol well, kind of like that. it's great that she's eating healthy; and expecially if she's still exercising she might lose a few since the baby needs more calories as (s)he is getting bigger. morning sickness or just plain nausea might play a role also. keep up with your prenatal check-ups, your doctor will definately tell you if anything needs attention. congrats and good luck!!

it is perfectly normal in during those months to loose some weight. When you have morning sickness you lose several pounds.
Honestly i didn't start showing till around 5 months. I am almost 7 months and look like i am 3 months. It all depends on your family genes and your nausea.

I went threw something like that, but I lost 15 lbs in the first 10 weeks, because of that my doctor sent me for a one hour glucose test early. And it was gestational diabetes. But if she has been really sick and not keeping much down it can happen. If not then I would ask the doctor. As long as baby is growing, then don't worry to much, she will gain as gets farther along.
