I hate hearing people call others cowards because they support the war in Iraq (or any war for that matter) but aren't in any branch of military. This seems so foolish to me, as anyone can support a war but it takes a certain kind of person to put their life on the line for their country. They're not cowards to me, they just don't possess what it takes to be a soldier/sailor/guardsman. What do you think?

We have an all volunteer Military. Nobody expects every person who supports this war to enlist. The tragedy is in the death of so many of our soldiers and people who do not support the troops. I don't support the war anymore, but I will always support our troops.

its all about staying united. if we cant do that then we will eventually loose or back bone anyway. support, don't criticize . most people don't have a clue what the war in iraq is about an thats just sad , but reality. not all of us can join the war, well we could an be all one voice one gun an not give the terrorist any confidence at all an this wouldve been over by now, but too many people let the media an the politicians that were scared they'd never see office again dictate how they should feel. like i said, sad. support support, keep it up, say it out loud an just stay united, Reagan said, if we forget that we're one nation under God then we will be a nation gone under. also, two forces have offered to die for you. 1. was Jesus the other is the american G.I. support

If Western civilization doesn't get tough on "Islamism" and either send them home or worse, all of us will suffer the consequences of what can only be called a racial and religious war against us that will drag us into the darkest of ages, blacker than the robes that they swaddle their women in. I ,for one, would rather die than be converted by a sword at my neck to any belief system. I will fight, my family will fight--join us now--call for the return of Muslims to their own countries. Withdraw their citizenship and send them, as well as those who have converted to their murderous system, back to their own lands.

Here is what they believe:

Political Correctness is the Incubator of Islamism
by Amil Imani

Time and again we are told by the politically correct “experts” not to worry about Islam posing a threat to our way of life. We are repeatedly lectured that only a very small minority of Muslims are troublemakers who are giving the peaceful masses of Muslims a bad name. We are also informed that the terrorists, who happened to be Muslims, are the disaffected and the young. And not to worry, since as the fire of youth turns to ashes of old age the rebellious will mellow, as they always have.
With heavy assurances like this, coming from so many know-it-all authoritative figures, we can sleep soundly without the aid of sleeping pills. After all, people reason that these pundits are “experts” whose job is to know and tell it like it is. Those who voice contrary views must be a bunch of racist, alarmist hate mongers. Who is right?

Wouldn’t be more prudent to let the facts settle the matter, rather than blindly accepting either position? Of course it would, except for one huge problem. In the face of threats, people tend to go to the mind’s medicine cabinet and take a few denial and rationalization pills, in the same way that it is the aspirin bottle they turn to when a headache strikes. Why not? We are the Easy Species. We love effortless, quick and simple solutions. And that’s not invariably bad. It has given us all kinds of labor and time saving devices.

Yet, the Islam problem is very real and deadly. Neither the pronouncements of the experts, nor the tranquilizing pills of the mind can make it go away. It is here and it shows every sign of imposing itself on us.

Europe is already badly infected with Islamism. It is the coal-miners’ canary. It is telling us that the next stop is America. We must act and act now. We must not sacrifice our cherished way of life and the lives of our children at the altar of political correctness: the incubator of Islamofascism.

You say that it "may take a certain type of person to put their life on the line"... and that the "don't possess what it takes to be"... Well, what they don't possess is what anybody could easily call "cowardice".

It's a matter of putting your life into what you say, doing - not just saying. Actions speak far louder than words. The volunteer Army, Navy, etc. that we have now provides a certain false military-supporting social environment where people can speak without truly having to ACT on what they say. If they aren't cowards, they are certainly liars to some degree - lying to themselves and others about their own, personal beliefs. It's characteristic of our political environment, this self-deception that is going on all the time. Bush has been called, "chicken-hawk" for no minor reasons.

The world is never as it appears - and the Bush Administration has the American public's sense of direction twisted in so many ways that one can even support a war with apparent full dedication without having to commit oneself to fight for what he/she believes to be true - because we all know that we have been lied to thoroughly from beginning to end and have been compliant with the self-serving self-deceptions. We can say what we want because we do not have to commit our body and soul into what we say.

The bottom line is that this self-deceptive culture we live in nowadays has resulted in hundreds of thousands of dead in many parts of the world - and that if we don't correct this problem in the U.S. it will only continue to get worse. Our lies kill people - including those American soldiers who have died for false hopes, illusions, deceptions, and the lies that continually emanate from our Government.

Capitalists profit from the exploited labor of the many. Wall Street and the capitalist-fascist state benefit from the genocides they inflict around the globe. As Ani DiFranco says: "Those who call the shots are rarely in the line of fire." Amen.

Nothing is wrong with supporting a war and not enlisting. People who call others cowards for not enlisting have no right because they haven't enlisted either!

it is easy to use words
but putting your life for your beliefs , isnt a thing those who yap up for more war even want to think of
those who call for war should have to go to war to fight it
and donate half thier income to pay for it
and pay half more to care for those whos lives are despoiled by the injuries those who did fight got via thier words

its easy to talk a big game if its not them going off to die or be made a dependant cripple

flowery [read patriotic] speeches that expect others to die for thier 'freedoms' should be seen for what they are ,
hate of neighbour not love
love of war proffits ,or thier shares going up [war shares have risen 300 percent] gives some enough reason to get our children killed

The cowards are the people that have the power to use military force (president and congress), and yet have not served, don't have their children serving....etc.

There's nothing wrong with supporting the war- but not wanting to stick your neck out. That's what hypocrisy is all about! Our Politicians do that ALL the time! :)
