Most people don't really want to hear the truth....

It seems that in this society we are always looking for compliments. We always like to think we have made the rite decisions when it comes to the way we dress and the way we look and the friends we have. When we have in fact made a wrong decision and someone points it out, it somehow insults us. We seldom assume that anyone is smarter than us. If someone is very important to you, then tell them the truth. While it is a good policy to tell the truth, some people can not accept the truth. Determine (before you answer) can this person accept the truth? If not, then just give them some kind of compliment and tell them what they want to hear. There are some occasions when we simply do not have the heart to tell the truth because of the pain it may cause. Give a lot of thought to your answers and dont simply answer to get the question out of the way.

I believe the obvious truth probably hurts more than the make- believe reality that many people are living in. I think the truth is always best, but at the appropriate time.

It depends how close you are to the person. If you're talking about a good close friend- you should be able to be truthful. If just an acquaintance, you need to be cautious. Some people are very blunt, in-your-face,outspoken- honest. Not many people can take that. So it depends on how this "truth" is presented.

They just don't want to hear the truth! No you should never tell them what they want to hear it never does them any good at all!
