Perhaps you are being too sensitive.I know some people who are very articulate but that is just how they speak. They have a very extensive vocabulary and they use it.If you truly feel they are trying to disrespect you ignore them. They will eventiually tire of their foolish game when they realize you aren't going to fall for their grade school antics..Personally, if I felt they were disrespecting me I wouldn't dignify their comments with a response. No one can make you feel ignorant unless you allow it. Empower yourself and take some night classes. You will not only gain self confidence but be on a path that will lead to a better job. Change your life and set goals. When you succeed you will have the satisfaction of knowing you made it in spite of them. Not that it should matter but I am white and I'm afraid that ignorance is not monopolized by just one race. My advice would be the same regardless of who you are.We all deserve respect.Take care.

Don't bother arguing.
1. Move out of the south.
2. Just get an education so you won't have the problem and you will deserve respect. Blacks have to work twice as hard to succeed in business, law and other professional fields.
Do this and you don't have to worry about being disrespected.
Until then, even other blacks can insult you.....
But really, you must be a white person showing off and having your like minded friends post in support......

Go to the Dollar store, and buy a dictionary. Take it home. Read through it thoroughly from cover to cover. The next time white people talk to you, you will no longer be at a disadvantage.

Well, maybe that is their normal way of talking, And maybe they read a lot and have billions of words to draw from. and it could possibly be that your a slight bit paranoid to think that they are looking down on you so to speak. The best way to learn new words is to read, see what context they're used in and inculcate them in your speech. It's not a fight you need, it's knowledge. you can do it, I know you can.

Is a two dollar word over "four" letters? You need a good

Just say I'm Fu^^ing your wife, chances are they don't know what the words they are using mean either. When people try to talk down on you it is because they have low self esteem. I have a large vocabulary but I cater to my audience. So screw them, if it still bothers you take some classes to brush up formal english at a community college. It is a very laid back setting.

I know some big words you could use, but you'd probably use them incorrectly.
Just keep jabbering away with your "ebonics" talk & they'll leave you alone.
