What if he was? Would it diminish him as a statesman, as a man? Spare dear old Abe such mundane thoughts. He does not deserve such sensationalism afforded to modern celebrities whose sexuality people find interesting to talk about. Let's just focus on what he has done and his legacies. What he did on his spare time or what he was behind the scenes are immaterial. That's my opinion.

Ye gods,Where did you read that?! Why would his being gay (which he most certainly was NOT) make a difference in who he was? Nowadays you would be gay FIRST and a great man LAST. Because people being what they are prefer to focus on the salacious first and foremost. Even if it is not true.I suppose that this could be the gay communities fault, if you are gay you have to tell the entire world about it even if you don't want to and wish to keep your private life private, especially if you are a celebrity;otherwise the gay community would consider you a traitor to the cause. When has a Heterosexual man or woman ever said to Barbara Walters " Yes, I'm straight and now my family and friends know the truth about me". (though considering the way things are going that could happen). But if you are gay, people want details, do we know how many women Casanova slept with and the names of those women? No , all we really know is that he was a tom-cat to the seventh power. Anyway, to get back to your question, Abraham Lincoln was not gay.

As one guy said, why do gay people always seem to try to prove that every notable person in history was gay?
This is real bull$h*t!
If Abe was gay simply because he shared a bed with other people back when he was poor, then you have to believe that every poor person from that time period was gay. Where did all of the children come from, then?

Well, this is exactly why teachers and professors do not accept wikipedia as a citation in papers, because any idiot can edit wikipedia and put in his/her own lies to fit his/her own political agendas
The ONLY President that SOME actual historians believe MAY have been homosexual is James Buchanon and that is not even a position held by a significant minority of historians.
The people pushing that agenda do not want to "CLAIM" him, because he was a terrible President, so they instead try to revise history and "claim" our greatest President as one of their own in order to promote their own political agendas. However, if there agenda was so evidently correct, then there would be no need to lie about history in order to promote themselves.

What does Lincoln have that dinosaurs don't?
I suggested that becoming gay is a possible reason for dinosaur extinction and the Answers thought police zapped my question.
Maybe Lincoln was a dinosaur...
PS Casanova WAS gay.

There have been some issues about his bachelor years, when he shared a bed with a roommate---I think when he was a young lawyer. But bed-sharing was very common in those times-! Too many people/roomers, not enough beds. It was common in hotels, on boats, rooming-houses, lots of places in the 19th century, for men to share beds and pallets to sleep on.

NO, Honest Abe was not gay. Last year in the National Inquirer, they tried to say that Abe was actually female, so do not believe everything you believe.

No. In the 1860s it was common for people to share beds while travelling. Safety, warmth, room, and custom required it.

it doesn't concern any of us. What Abe does on his off time is his own business.
You don't happen to read the Sun, Daily Mirror or Daily Star do you?

No he wasn't. He was often morose.
As for his sexuality, he got Mary Todd pregnant before their marriage and they had 4 kids.
However I beleive it is possible that Buchanan was.
