Angelfish are quite hardy, although I'm curious as to what you mean by the pH being off a little. Angels come from an environment where the pH can be down in the 5.6 range. They will do well in neutral water(pH 7.0) but spawning really goes better in slightly acid water(around 6.5).

for a 20 it is pushing it, as they need high tank to fully develop. Angelfish can get to about 10 inches long and 15 inches high, so they will need a big tnk.

Generally, it is a min of 29 gallons for one angelfish.

They are hardy, if you buy from a weak petstore, than no, but as a species, yes they are hardy.

I have and had serval angelfish and breeder angels in 29 gallons, and a couple of babies in a 20 high, so it can work.

Angelfish don't tolerate a varying pH or temperature. As long as it is properly adjusted, it should be okay as long as the pH (and all other water quality measures) are stable. Also, it cannot be kept with nippy fish because they will mess with the Angel's fins. Small fish like Neon Tetras and Guppies should also be avoided as they will be eaten by the Angel. Good luck!

I love them but they are not hardy. If you have other fish and then take them out that would be the beast because it will make the tank beter.
