Just remember - if it is a metal and non-metal, it is ionic bond. If it is between non-metal and non-metal is is covalent bond.

3. ionic
4. ionic
5. ionic
compounds that have only non-metals generally have covalent bonds

compounds with metals generally have ionic bonds

exception-hydrogen is not a metal but commonly forms ionic bonds or covalent bonds A single hydrogen will usually be an ionic bond, while multiple hydrogens will usually be covalently bonded.

ex- H2O-covalent HF-ionic

Theses are guide lines there are always odd ball exceptions that you need to familiarize yourself with

Atomic symbols are case sensitive so I'm just assuming you meant CO2 and PCl3. Co is actually cobalt but that would not make sense for this question.

1. Covalent
2. Covalent
3. Ionic
4. Ionic
5. ? I think Ionic

If the atoms have low electronegativity variations - as in they are close together on the periodic table (like C and O) then they will covalently bond. If the difference is around .7 or higher, it's probably ionic.
