I have five sisters, one brother and two baby sisters one the way. We all range from 19 1/2 down to 6 (not including the unborn twins) and I'm the third oldest. So my family will soon be nine children and I love it! I would never trade my big family for anything.
I won't lie there are some fights in the house, but weither you have 9 kids or 2 you'll always have to deal with fights. You NEVER get lonely! Also you really don't have to worry about the kids getting into trouble because in most cases the kids will 'patrol' eachother. What I mean by this is they will stop eachother from doing things they shouldn't.
Alot of people believe that with big families comes poor education, starving, money problems, hate and not enough love. That is NOT true.
My oldest sister who is 19 1/2 is in nursing school right now and eventually wants to be a cardiologist (heart doctor). I would like to look into becoming a medical geneticist.
Our house is full of food and no matter what the little ones will always have somebody to help them out. They don't have to wait for my parents to make food.
We defintally do not have money problems and we're all in sports, clubs etc like any other family. We celebrate birthdays, christmas etc and we enjoy every minute of it (atleast I know that I do).
Hate and not enough love is also defintally not true. When my youngest sisters are scared or upset they always have somebody to cuddle. My parents are always concerned with their children's happiness. I think that most (but not all) big families sometimes have it better because parents aren't going to have a big family unless they want the children. And if they want the children then they will love them.
This is all just my opinion, but I know that alot of my siblings feel the same way.

I have a big family myself: 5 sisters ( myself makes 6 girls) and 4 brothers. The total= 10 kids! I think it is good, but then again it's all I've known. To answer your question, it just depends on your finacial situation, the type of husband/wife ( partner) you have. I personally wouldn't have more than 2; 3 is the max. I also have a large extended family and that as well is a good thing. It can get difficult with all the varying personalities. Basically it has its ups and down; more ups than downs, though. These days, with the cost of living, it doesn't seem realistic to have large families. I think my siblings and I appreciate each other more now that we are older. Overall, I think kids should have at least one sibling. Hope this helps

I too have no sibs I have always been facinated by large families. Cable tv has specials on large families so others must be facinated by them too. I think it would be nice to always have someone to talk to or play with. Never to be lonely. The Amish have a saying "many hands make light the work" Imagine having someone to share the chores with. THat would be nice.

My parents had 2 girls and 4 boys. We had 3 bedrooms and one bathroom. All the boys were in one room ( two sets of bunk beds ) and my sister and I shared a room. Not a lot of money so the folks didn't go out much, but we have a great family. We all sat together at dinner laughing at dad's jokes and he and my mom were always interested in what we were doing. We are loved and it's been wonderful.

Well, I have three brothers and one sister and I guess some people might consider us a big family. And one word to describe it is: smelly. With all those bodies, that's a lot of crap to come by every day. Also, I'm less close to my brothers because I know if I don't like one, I have spares.

Its very nice. You learn how to discipline in big families and become a survivor.I think you can handle life easier especially if you are one from the older brothers. And of course you have more people that love trully for what you are and you can really trust them and tell them every thing that bothers you!

there was 6 of us growing up. never a lot of money, sometimes we went to bed hungry. we were made fun of because we didn't have very good clothes or live in a nice home. i'm the oldest so i always had the responsibilities of taking care of younger ones. my birthday is christmas eve and i never had a party i was always told to just get something from under the tree, but since all my brothers and sisters were younger they had to open a present too.
it basically sucked.

will you have a sis or bro? Well...I have a sister. But before she married she was fun. Now...she is a pest. She is younger 13 years but very possesive.
Now in a natural and normal family, having a sibling, is wonderful because your're never alone. I had a brother ut he died when he was 16 and..he was everything for me. I don't know. It could be fun, boring, or a pest. Like my sister...lately.
