Actually it was coming in to land and it was going far too fast bearing in mind that it was a short runway, it was wet, and the runway hadn't got any drainage grooves cut into the surface ! ! !

Richard E is right, yes it was coming into land and as he said there was no real drainage on the runway, that's why the plane could not stop, plus the fact the runway was too short in those circumstances. In this day and age you would have thought the industry would have learnt lessons and made all the necessary changes to ensure that no flight was compromised in this way.

The runway had not long ago opened again after being closed to try to solve a "Slipping" problem.

Earlier in the day, a light aircraft had slid off the same runway and onto the grass.

Many pilots had complained about the surface of the runway

I think it shouldn;t even happened as the airplane owners were told several times that an accident was going to happen and then 1dad; not this ;but one before it.They told them that the air-strip is to short and houses are to close and a bad accident is gonna happen soon; but they kept flying without doing anything to prevent it.I think the owners of the plane 'should be charged with manslaughter of as many people killed then that many counts; but in Brazil; i doubt anything will even happen; sad; but true,

Brazil refuses to bring anything into the modern world like this and risks their country men everyday. It is a typical laid back could not give a fxxk attitude by politicians, probably more corrupt than US and British.
They seem to have an agenda of being really good to themselves.

The runway is too short, pilots have complained about this runway for years........

Sometimes it takes an awful tragedy before someone does something about it.

The poor families, another awful waste of lives........

Pilot error if i remember correctly.

He was taking off and took off way too late... overshooting the runway.

Would have happened in a Boeing too.
