Absolutely not. If you don't value yourself you can't value others. Take care of yourself, physically, mentally, emotionally so that you can be the healthiest self you can be for the people that you love.

In the strictest sense of the word it's the definition. Selfish is to care about yourself over others. However there are different degrees which selfishness is good and bad.
For example, it's selfish to care about being away from a person that is self destructive because you don't want to be dragged down with that person. Is that a bad thing? No, because you need to protect yourself.

Yes. And valuing yourself over others is normal. Selfish, but normal. There are very few truly altruistic people around. Some will tell you that there is no altruism, but they're wrong. It's out there and it's rare.

you are selfish if you chose yourself over others. we are all the same simple creatures sharing this odd human experience. simply because we are hard wired by nature to constantly defend ourselves and sacrafice our lives, liberty and pleasures for no one and nothing, it dosn't make it the right thing to do, it simply dosn't matter what you do with your life. go have fun but keep in mind you and every other human on this planet are all the same person, were all just absorbing stimuli until we die.

Well, one needs to have a good balance actually in order to be well-rounded and healthy spiritually.
Take care of oneself, however always remember to help other's around you in some way(s) as well.
If one is too self-centered it can lead to all kinds of emotional illnesses as well as upset those around you.

Yes. Isn't social conditioning wonderful. People have built in switches that other people turn on and off.
