is about time.just remove the bolts one at a time starting fron the narrow end of the pan and working to the wide end.the filter should just pull off, unless there is a clip on it,but you should be able to see that.other than that, just make sure the old seal comes out.good luck.

No just remove the trans pan replace the filter gasket and seal available in kit form with pan gasket filter and seal from GM or AC delco. Here is the problem your 19 year old transmission might not like new fluid you can drain away what is making your car move. Please start shopping for a new car soon. Unless your home bound and never venture out and really don't care what you look like driving Grandmothers car around. Seriously the 88 Buick Century lacks sex appeal or any appeal whatsoever! If you leave it unlocked thiefs will lock it for you!

Some answers are not worth reading, and it's not worth doing your trans oil change yourself either,it's very messy you will end up with oil everywhere, take it to a trans shop get them to get dirty, and don't be talked into anything but the oil change, they might bring the oil pan out to show you ow much dirt is in it or metallic filings, just get them to change the filter and oil and ignore the sales pitch. It's usually bull s--t anyway.
