knowing they can prevent colon cancer..sometimes we have to do nasty things to get good things...Err I guess...

To be honest with you I would eat anything that was healthy for me and prolong my life, including onions if it did prevent colon cancer!
Having said that I don't eat onions because I am a traveling businessman. I meet a lot of people, shake a lot of hands and make a lot of business/contract deals. I can't offend my clients/customers with my onion breath! --- Can't risk the breath mints not working either!

I avoid onions. I'm mildly allergic.
And...I don't care what the studies say about this or that anymore. We all die anyway. Not meaning to be a downer...but you might as well live life and forget the studies or else you'll be avoiding everything and might as well be dead.

Anyways, Id still eat them but in moderation. I guess eating too much of anything is bad for you.
