I have never heard of a percentage of the actor's pay going to the director... If you don't have an entertainment lawyer, call the union and make an appointment ASAP to see a rep. Take the contract and see what they say. If they tell you to take it up with your agent, tell them your agent is on board with this and you're really nervous about this whole thing.

On the other hand, realize that if this is a non-union gig, they can throw all kinds of things at you and the union will hold their hands up and say, sorry can't help you. If you have an entertainmet lawyer, that would be the best person to consult at this point especially if your agent is gung ho. The gig should be paying $20k PLUS 10% if it's union.

If you have a long history with this agent and everything has always gone fine, maybe there is a logical explanation. Have a sitdown with them and see if it can be explained to your satisfaction.

I hope you don't get riped off! This is your son's college tuition!

Casting director maybe? A Casting director can take a cut, but usually its becomes a split with the agent and casting director (they take 20% total 10 and 10)

Director, thats something I have not herd of.

IF the gig is non-union I don't know how much recorse there is,
If its SAG or AFTRA, report it, that is not allowed.

That sounds highly suspect. Since it's TV, it would be covered by AFTRA. Give them a call.

Based on what I'm making right now, $15K just for signing my name would be pretty cool. LOOK AT YOUR CONTRACT! Especially look for words like "if", "however", and "furthermore". If you or your lawyer didn't close some loophole, you could be shafted.

Did you contact the union to ask them? Call AFTRA.
