Mine is always clean, admittedly because I have a cleaning lady and no kids though. If it were up to me to do, I'm sure it would be a sty.

You really should hire an housekeeper. I have my own cleaning service and it really is a lot of work. I get really depressed when my house is like that . I don't have a clean house right now. I don't feel good about it either because I have cleaned house all day and my is about half ----- ! Oh well I have dinner dish's to do and laundry for work tomorrow. I am beat. I think you need to for sure take a load off , and hire someone to clean maybe just a few hours. Pick up the house I call it clearing the deck. Have the cleaners do the restrooms wipe down the kitchen mop the floors dust and vacuum. How much do you think that is worth ? Take a load off and find out what it must feel like to walk into a clean home . Good luck.

Well it's almost ten o'clock at night here, so my house is spotless. My girls have been in bed for 2 hours so I have had a chance to clean everything. But then again I am a stay at home mom and so all I really have to do at night is wash the dinner dishes and pick up around the house. We have a 4 year old, a 2 year old, a dog, and a cat. The biggest rule we have in my house is NO toys outside the bedrooms! The second biggest rule is this: Everybody has their own dirty clothes hamper, if you don't put your clothes in the hamper they won't be put in the washing machine. I don't pick up dirty clothes. I already have to wash, dry, fold, and put them up. If you start children out early they will get this concept very quickly. When my 2 year old gets ready for her bath a night the first thing she does is take her clothes off and put them in her hamper. As for the dishes well let them pile up and then drink a whole pot of coffee and start washing once the coffee kicks in. Use time saving devices, like the swiffer wet jet. Best thing ever invented. It saves so much time, you just pull it out of the closet and mop. No getting the mop and bucket, filling up the bucket, wriging out the mop, pushing the bucket around, etc. That's all gone. But really if you don't have time for anything just hiring a cleaning lady to come in like every other day or something. If I worked full time that is what I would do. There is no use in killing yourself to keep a clean house. Look at it this way once your children grow up and move out your house will stay so much cleaner!!Ha Ha! It'll be ok. Just don't stress sweetie!

I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one. My mom comes over and b**chs me out. Funny thing is, our house was a disaster when we were little, But she took the best care of us! Definitely not a Domestic Goddess or the Martha Stewart type, but she always talk to us, played with us, took us places, you know just spent quality time with us (me and my little brother), and you know what we are very well rounded indIviduals, with both of are parents still together 33 years later and never happier. Sorry point is now she tells me how I need to keep house better, but I have 4 kids (2 y/o boy,4 y/o boy,10 y/o girl,12 y/o girl) and our 4 year old has learning issues and throws terrible fits, and runs through the house like a tornado so I am chasing my tail all day long and on top of it We run a business out of our home so all my husbands equipment is all over my house and we have 2 male dogs and 2 female cats. Anyways do what you can do, and as long as you recognize that it's a mess, you are still doing OK! RELAX!!!!!

My husband and I both work at least 40 each and He works a regular 8-5 mon-fri job but I work odd hours and have odd days off. Our house looks "lived in". But it wouldn't be that good if my hubby didn't help A LOT. He does the laundry on the weekends for himself and our two boys (9 and 17) and he keeps the dishes washed. My boys take out the trash and keep their bathroom decent. And I kind of keep things "picked up" and do dusting and floors and stuff like that when I'm off and no ones home. Crap still piles up sometimes.. but we all have to pitch in. Good Luck.

I make everyone clean up. I am a widow with four boys(ages2,4,6,12) and 45 minutes before lights out everyone has to help clean up. I just tell them all that I don't live here by myself and I certainly will not clean by myself. I am not a clean freak by any stretch of the mind cause all through the day, my house looks like a train rode through and lost a few car loads of stuff but at the end of the day it is time to pick up the disaster.

I think your house sounds normal.
I just hate it when I go to someones house and they have kids and jobs, and their house is spotless. Don't ask me how they do it, my home is normal like yours. minus the dirty dishes in the sink, I always make sure I wash those because it is so much more work if they sit in the sink for hours. I do find if you clean as you make messes it helps, however you can't do much about the other people in your house making messes.
Don't worry, just don't invite friends over that you know that keep their homes spotless, and if they come over uninvited don't answer the door!

My house is both messy & clean...it just depends on what room you're in....
I am in the middle of going through everything and throwing a lot away....so there are empty boxes and trash bags all over the place...and I need do dishes..
