Headers are mucg, much better flowing than the stock cast iron manifolds. On stock 350 engines, headers along will add anywhere between 10-20 HP at the crank.. On modded engines gains of as much as 40-50 HP is not un heard of.
Now though if your putting headers on, more than likly you will not be reuseing the compression bent small dia. stock Y pipe.
Going to a smoother bent, larger dia Y pipe will add another 5 HP to it.
Then the muffler.. Are you adding headers and keeping the stock, weak flowing muffler? A good aftermarket muffler will add another 5 HP or so...
So all n all 20-30 HP gain and that's keeping single exhaust.. If you ditch the Y pipe and run 2 pipes (true dual exhaust) and 2 good mufflers, you will pick up even alittle more power.

It depends on the heads and carb and exhaust, as little as 5 hp or upto 25 horses....
small heads - 2 barrel carb, stock exhaust - 5 hp
Big valve heads - 4barrel, high flow dual exhaust - 25 HP

15-25 horse power,it depends on the year of the engine, though, certain years ran higher compression ratio,s than others, and those it helps a lot more, but on the average around 25 ,good luck with it.

Almost zero unless you have the camshaft and intake manifold and better carb to work with the larger complete exhaust system too. Power comes at a high cost because once you got more you want even more! Absolute power corrupts absolutely! Then the drive shaft twists off and rear end cannot take the power and blows up. After that the worn transmission starts to slipp.

I took mine off--they did NOTHING--they are for short runs--racing a quarter mile only--road use?? No way--Just another kid thing to waste money on. I am back to 18 mpg on my 99 Suburban.
