is not easy. Jesus made it seem so easy. Does anyone else have this problem?

By enemies, I don't mean just the people I am aquainted with, I mean everyone in the world: people I don't understand, people who have hurt me (like my abusive father) EVERYONE who GOD created.
I pray for world peace and I try to make it happen one person at a time, but it is sometimes very hard.

What a peaceful life you must live, at least within. I wish I could say I never get angry. I would never kill any one no matter how angry I was. I believe in peace. Peace to you, my friend.

Julie,
You are right, Jesus wasn't "kind" to the money changers, but He didn't kill them.

To all of the readers of my question,
I have learned much from your answers. I think I need to change "be kind" to "LOVE" I do LOVE everyone, even those who hurt me and those I love.

I've just read a book by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (a musician and spiritual leader) in which he speaks about that very problem. The concept of the story is this: all bad feelings are just distortions of love - even hate, anger, jealousy, etc. So, in order to deal with them, we should understand our 'enemy', and we should see that the main reason of these distortions of love is ignorence or fear. Once you see this, you will not think of your opponents as enemies, but as persons in need of help. However, sometimes it takes more than kind words and lessons to help them, and then you should use (controled) your anger, but not letting it consume your soul. As another answerer said, even Jesus did this - he used his anger for the bennefit of all, and yet, didn't become the anger.

If you were true, you would have no enemies. Right? You would find no wrong with anyone, at least that's what I believe, but I'm not a Jesusian, I'm just me, I do however believe in a higher power. And that love refuses me to see anything wrong with the way people act, to each his own, no matter whatever another may do to me I still Love them because of my higher power. I treat and do unto others as I would have them do unto me

As a Jesusian, you have the name of your spiritual mentor all wrong. Try Yeshua for starters, and then get beyond that pablum sponsored by the pagan Constantine. Religion as a management tool for Empire building is not always the best course to follow!

Ah, the bible. So many ways to interpret it! From a single book comes a different interpretation for every type, from the peaceful pacifist to the sadistic warmonger. Slave-holders and abolitionists alike have found solace in its passages. Oddly enough, the interpretation most people subscribe to just happens to fit their pre-existing personality type. So I guess you can consider it a compliment to yourself that you favor one of the more peaceful interpretations. Some of your more zealous xtian brothers, take a different view....

I think being kind to your enemies really annoys them. Maybe this is why Jesus did it. However the idea of having enemies in this day and age seems to be anachronistic. If you really can´t get on with people then just stay away from them.

Maybe Jesus was wrong (or misuderstood). Perhaps the better word would be civil. Makes a whole lot more sense to me. Jesus wasn't so "kind" to the money-changers...

I struggle with trying to love others as much as myself.
Since we're human, we are flawed. Pray that God will help you to love others with a pure heart. Also remember that your enemies have hard things going on in their lives, too, and you may not know how hard it is.
Best wishes.

as a human, we desire to throttle our enemies, not be kind to them...that is why it is called a "victorious" life if we can override that urge to choke the daylights out of some slob that richly deserves it and be kind instead, for it is a battle that we wage to be kind and forgiving.

I'm just wondering if you could clarify enemies.
Do you mean people who have wronged you or bad people in general...id politicians, warmongers, pedophiles, etc
