your period is nothing to be afraid of. trust me. when i first got mine, i was a little nervous, but after i talked with my mom about it, it was ok. first of all, dont be afraid. just get a pad and put it in your underwear. (lol well first things first, right?) tampons can be difficult at first and im sure your not too crazy about trying them right away. your period wont last too long, only about a week maybe. it wont be regular so dont expect it exactly a month in advance. just be calm, and know that everything is perfectly normal. :)

There's no reason to be scared. You'll be fine in a few more days. Like everyone else said, first thing is use a pad or tampon (don't worry, it won't tear your hymen). Change them every time you go to the bathroom to urinate (generally 6-7 times a day). If you experience discomfort or cramping, take some midol.
If you do decide to use tampons, don't use them while you're sleeping at night. The risks of Toxic Shock Syndrome can be cut by half just using them during the day.
Try several different styles of pads or tampons to find which ones you prefer and it will help if you have an older friend/sister or your mom to go with you and explain the differences since buying pads is almost as complicated as buying a car nowadays. If you're too embarrassed, maybe ask one of your friends' moms that you're pretty close to. Don't worry, she won't tell you no. It's like a rite of passage into becoming a woman and we've all been through it ourselves and understand the fear and confusion even when we were expecting it to happen to us.
Hugs to you

Don't panic, if you are using a pad then don't swim (can if using a tampon) basically period doesn't stop you from doing much at all. You may feel some pain in abdomen but usually some panadol or nurofen will help get rid of that as will light exercise and hot water bottle.
You will not necessarily get another period next month it could be a while before your next or it could be weeks, you will need to carry something with you until your body settles into a routine and then most people get it every 24-35 days, keep note in your diary (I use to use a small blue dot one the first day so I knew when my last one started).

You can do anything that you feel up to doing. Of course, you're nervous, this is something completely new to you. But you'll soon realize that this time of the month will come and go just like any other day. With the exception that you will have to be wearing pads or tampons. But other than that. You don't have to change your routine for it. I would suggest talking to your mom or another close female about it. It may seem uncomfortable to do. But their input might really put your mind at ease. Good luck.

I'm 14 and I got mine about 2 yrs ago. Ok, since u just started it's gonna be really light, and u might not have a period next month, u will prolly skip around for the first yr. Don't be scared, its normal and all gals go through it, i recommend pads over tampons for ur first one cuz well its just better for ur first time, if you have cramps take some medicine and drink lots of water. If ur period is heavy then wear like dark shorts or pants incase u go through(which u most likely won't)
Good luck! and congrats! lol

Don't be scared... millions and millions of women have went through it. You'll get used to it and you'll hate it! Every woman is different, I've learned to take Tylenol (or whatever)as soon as Aunt Flow arrives, so you can beat the cramps...cuz they're a killer. You will feel like crap before, during and maybe after. You should talk to your mom, or someone that you trust about this and at least tell them what's going on.

You can do anything while on your period that you do when you aren't, swim, bike, play softball, take a nap. If you swim, it's a good idea to use tampon's. They make some great ones that are easy for younger women. Sometimes having a period can be a nusiance, but it's part of growing up.
You can always talk to your mom if you are unsure about things. She was a young lady once too. ; - )

don't be hun, its a perfectly natural for a women to have her period. Tell your mother and ask her the questions that you want answered. If you are too embarassed( though i recommend it) to ask your mother just ask your friends or trusted teachers. A period is can last 3-seven days and happens around the same time every month. for the first few years though you might have an irregular period which means that you might have different times every month.

Don't be scared. It is something that you will get use to as you get to kow your body. You can do anything that you want to do, but you might not feel like it. I suggest that you start using a thin pad and take midol for your cramps.
