They didn't have shopping carts in my day. They had baskets and wheelbarrows. We grew most everything in our garden and did home canning. We raised chickens for eggs and Sunday dinner. Sugar and flour came in 50 lb cloth bags, which grandma made dresses for us girls. Depending on the pattern she would make shirts for the boys.

Great question. Even though I have had people ask me to do this within the past year; because of my height....not my age...lol.....it's been decades.

I've sometimes wished I could have been a passenger, rather than doing all the work of choosing the items and pushing the cart through the store, trying to maneuver the cart without bumping into anyone or anything.

This is especially difficult when others are banging into my cart or hitting the back of my ankles. (Another reason to wish I was sitting in the cart.)

Interesting question, don't think I have seen it on here before.

(Just a little comment to Kris L....you have a wonderful attitude, keep on having fun in everything you do, it makes for a great life.)

Have a good day.

A very long time. Even as as a child, I hated sitting in the shopping cart. I liked to walk and look at everything instead of being tied to a cart.

I have never sat in a shopping cart. When I was of that age
the shopping carts did not make provisions for children to ride.

Never sat in a shopping cart. Not that they didn't have htem in 100 BC. It's that we had neighborhood grocery stores then, which did not have shopping carts. Since my grandpa owned the one we went to, we never went anywhere else. And we had nothing to eat other than what he sold in his store.
