I've been legally evicted. my key won't open the door and I need my things, what can I do?

The actual "out" date was last Wednesday(07/25/07). I talked them yesterday (07/30/07) and they informed me my belongings were removed to a storage facility in the area, however I can see in one of the windows that there are still things in the apartment...

I am pretty certain if you call the police they will escort you and make sure you get your things back. Your landlord cannot hold your things even if there is unpaid rent. They can take you to court for the unpaid rent, but not hold your things.
And hey Busted, this is America, innocent until proven guilty. You have no idea why this person was evicted. So check your attitude at the door. This person is just asking for some help.

Call the landlord if he refuses, contact your local police dept and ask them what 2 do. Do you owe the landlord $$??. I don't think that he can legally keep your belongings. Did you sign a contract?? Why is the landlord refusing to return/release your belongings?? You mention that you were evicted so, I'm not sure as to how to resolve your situation, sorry. Good Luck.

most landlords after a legal eviction will have the sheriffs office on hand to make sure you get your stuff. that being said pay your back rent. landlords are working people too. yours recently had to go to court to evict a DEADBEAT.

Contact the police and have them meet you and your landlord at the place so you can retrieve your items. I do not believe that a landlord can legally hold any of your property.

contact the police or the sheriff's dept and tell them you need an officer to escort you to your former residence to pick up your belongings . they will be more than happy to help you and keep the peace . good luck .

If you have paid all rent, then they cannot hold your stuff. I would contact your local police department.
If you were evicted for non-payment of rent, they can hold enough of your stuff to pay your past due bills, so pay them then.

your landlord can not hold your things from you. its against the law even if you owe money.
they have to give your things to you.
for them to get there money from you they have to take you to small claims court and sue you.
call police and have them meet you there to get your things.

remember the police are there for you. dont get smart with them or yell at your ex-landlord while trying to get your things. play it kooool.

They may be holding your things until you pay back rent, or something....
