I don't know what the best is, but I think one of the saddest I've seen is the ending in The Grapes of Wrath. I expected things to get better for them, but it only got worse. But a sad ending can can be good, too.

Best surprise ending was "No Way Out" with Kevin Costner. I did not see that twist coming....it seems obvious now, but I guess I was brain dead when I watched it the first time.
Most satisfying ending: "Pirates III" (if you stayed for the part after the credits.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail... they all just get arrested... really doesn't tie up any of the multiple loose ends found throughout the movie... but I loved it!

Three of my favorites are "Cry_Wolf" "Secret Window" and "The Illusionist." I love twists at the end of movies! Completely unpredictable!
