Recent genetic research suggests that IF "intelligence" can be linked to a gene, the gene exists on the X chromosome.
So, probability says women generally are more likely to be intelligent than men--since women have 2 X chromosomes (two chances) and men only have 1. However, your question seems to asks: which of the two is the smartest? This question can be taken different ways--especially since you put "man" (singular) or "women" (plural). Do you mean, is the smartest person a man or a woman? Or do you mean, who is more likely to be smart, a man or a woman? Or do you mean, which sex has the most smart people? These are all different questions, but given the previously mentioned genetic research, I would play the probabilities and go with "women."
Though intelligence generally is a muddled term.
To previous claims that men are smarter because of what I would call the "Einstein-Galileo-Plato" factor--that is, men are all the known intellectuals in history, I would claim that such bogus claims seem to disregard the inherent patriarchical structure found throughout history. In addtion, such claims of EGP factor only illuminate the ignorance of the poster.

well it was a woman that fell first at the hands of a serpent and apple. . .but it was man to believe the woman and go along with it too.
so i would guess that it all depends on this day and age. Men and women these days are getting dumber. . . .
I would have to say that. . . . men are smarter.
Women tend to rely a lot on their own emotions to make a choice. While men seem to just go with reason or their gut and get things done.
But of course im smarter than all my guy friends. But their not really "men" ^_-

women because they know how to survive with there child, work for food and etc. around not just humans animals too. Man are just there to work it and leave.

Well, more on the side of women. Women talk more than men because of their brain. They function differently. Because of more talk, you learn more words, which goes on and on benefiting your intelligence.

Women are just as intelligent as men but their interests lie in other directions which is why you see so few female scientists or inventors.

I have met stupid men and stupid women, in fact i am related to a few of both. So that being said, i think it is a toss up!

whoever thinks there is a definitive answer to this question tilts their gender towards the least smartest...
