I love preppy and classic things. I am looking for a classic, not too trendy (but trendy enough) bag for class. I am going into my senior year of college and I don't want it my bag to look pre-teen or young looking. Any suggestions?

L.L.Bean has some really nice leather totes and messenger bags - look under both!
You'd be able to carry them to school, and use them later at the office.

I got a shoulder bag for my books that looks kinda like the lovechild of a purse and a laptop carrying case. It has a front flap where I keep the purse stuff and then inside, there's room for a couple big binders. It's nice and practical and I like the way the airlines count it as a purse instead of an item of carryon, even though it has about the same carrying capacity as a backpack. Which I'm sure you don't care about at all so I'll stop rambling now.
Edited to add: aha. Messenger bag. That's what it's called.

If you are crafty or like things that reflect individuality and not cookie cutter, you could either take an old favorite piece of clothing or go to a thrift store and take the seams out; you can then design a trendy bag and make it uniquely yours; you'll leave them asking where they can get one.

abercrombie & fitch have some cute totes. but they're pricey, but then again like everything a&f is pricey. you can look at other places like hollister, but they don't have as much of a selection.
