People who have been gifted with a psychic ability? !REAL QUESTION!?

Question

This Question is for people who have been gifted with psychic abilities or other abilities, esp, precognitive dreams, empathy, telepathy,etc. Where do you believe your gift/gifts came from? I am very interested in this subject & would like to hear your opinion.

Here are some of the ideas/beliefs/opinions that I have heard.
1.That the gifts come from the persons Deity (God,Allah, etc)
2.That people who have these gifts are a result of mankind's on going Evolution
3.That fallen angels (or Djinn/Jinn) had intercourse with humans thus resulting in people with unusual abilities.

If you agree/believe/understand any of the listed ideas/beliefs/opinions could you please explain them? I tried Google & Google did not help me with this subject.

I believe there is a genetic predispostion. Almost everyone on my mother's side has some gift. I also believe that if you ask to be a channel, the Universe will oblige you. I think that most abilities simply come down to being a channel for information from other sources. We are able to process information in a different way, or we get it sooner. It's about connection to Spirit/the Universe/God, whatever you call it.

I think evolution definitely plays a part as well. So much of the brain is still unmapped...

The Djinn piece feels more like superstition from past millenia. Doesn't really resonate.

there are those who are giventhe ability to foresee the future, the calamities, accidents, deaths, etc. But let us be realistic, these people we call "gifted" are all human, like we are. if they are gifted, then why start asking yourself of the gifts that God had given or will give you in the future. think of it, an average mind person is only using his 10% all through his life. What about the 90%? if you will then answer that, then you may find that if all average man uses that 90%, then this world is a better place to live, we may find answers and solutions in all these prblems that we have. and if all these talented and gifted people will really use their talents and abilities, think of it,enchanting, isn't it?

have you found one who is gifted? we are all gifted in many ways, in many different ways, in many unique ways? we just have to find the gifts that is alloted for us, that are meant for us. so if you find that you are not gifted, think once more!!!!!!!

I think we all have the potential for different "paranormal" abilities, but not everyone can tap into them. We are spiritual as well as physical beings, so we straddle both worlds. I've never seen anyone who can levitate or move objects with their mind, but I have experienced very gentle empathic healing, have had precognitive dreams (no lottery numbers, dang!), and continue to explore my own abilities. I can't prove my experiences scientifically, nor do I expect others to accept it on faith. All this is highly subjective, yet so many have similiar experiences. I just accept these gifts as part of who I am and enjoy the freedom of being me.
I met a woman who was a powerful empathic healer. I didn't believe in it until she laid hands on me. She believed her powers were a gift from God and that she was just a conduit for the healing power.

I believe that these are not new things that could represent evolution - we have all those parts of the brain, they are just not being used. But, that doesn't mean humans haven't used them before in pre-history. I am a Christian by belief, but also I believe in reincarnation, and this is why I think that those gifts are actually a final product of all of one's past lives - the more we develope (I will not say learn!) trough our past experiences, the more we cleanse our soul, all untill we finally become so open that we kind of jump-start those hidden, forgotten abilities. I don't think this is random or that it could be altered in any way. This is who we are - for now.

It's called prophecy.

It's mentioned in the Bible, and I think other religious books.
I have had dreams/moments where I have been able to see what was going to happen the next day. It's usually something really small, and not of any use, really. Like I once had a dream, and out of no where, I heard someone say "Ya, it's pretty big for a one story" and I heard my friend say it the next day. It kindof shocks you at first, but it's happened many times to me, so whenever I see/hear something that happened in my dreams, I just go "Wow" and think about what it might mean.

I've also had connections to people thoughts. Like I knew what my friends myspace name was going to be the next day.

I don't know where this gift came from, But I a thankful for it. I love it. It's simply amazing. It defys all logic. I think it's a gift from God, but I also think that more people will start to get it, in order to advance as a civilization.

or, maybe God selected us few souls to have this gift, and will continue to bless only few with it.

I wish I knew how to trigger it to happen, but it happens very randomly.

They are senses and it is up to the person themselves if they want to enhance or open these senses and can with Meditation and yes it is for personal growth and more of a spiritual acceptance

I believe we were all born with the gift- in the beginning of time we needed it to survive- as time as gone by people have used it and relied on it less. Christianity put the kybosh on a lot of these gifts declaring them as evil so people stopped using them. We all have the ability still, some use and some shut it off.

I myself find that my little psychicness was ever since I got hit in the head by some kid when i was at school. Dunno seems like more psychic stuff has come up. My ability works like: If u hang out with me whatever hapens or what u see might happen again. I don't tell people crap haha. But yea u may bump into stuff again or I may repeat things u said or said somewhere else before.

I think people become psychic by something major happening.

I believe mine of course came from God. What I also wonder though, does it seem hereditary? My mother had the same gifts, but never talked about them per se; we just witnessed it in her in everyday observations and siblings and I didn't discuss it until after her death. Indian folklore believes memories, etc. are passed from generation to generation through inherited genes. It's possible, I believe. I do believe that all people are psychic to a degree.
Some people are gifted more than others, some people...practice, and train to improve more than others, others are indifferent.
I believe certain things ...like increasing your personal knowledge and in a sense 'opening your mind, about paranormal, and metaphysics helps
I feel God of course did bless some with great psychic abilities than others.
i do feel, that a person needs to practice to maintain, and improve their abilities
i feel knowledge of, honing of, and practicing kundalini yoga/raja yoga, with concentration on certain chakras can enhance a persons abilities.
I feel that Knowledge is Gnosis...which is what we can tap into, to know past, future, or other things, involving the spiritual world, but there are of course rules, regulations, and restrictions for some.
