I have to have a rant here. Every Monday morning, I get my rubbish collected. So far so good. They collect it by truck. Also fine. What is NOT fine is that it is collected at 6am, and the truck reverses down my road. Now, I'm not sure if anyone else gets REALLY cheesed off with this, but every truck put into reverse screams " beep beep beep", which never fails to wake me up in a very, very bad mood. But just in case someone fails to notice that a massive rubbish truck screaming beep at full volume, this particular truck screams " beep beep beep. Caution. This vehicle is reversing. Beep beep beep. Caution. This vehicle is reversing. Beep.... etc etc". What complete and total idiotic health and safety officer decided that was necessary to prevent accidents? Whatever happened to a peaceful life, hey? Where does this idiocy stop? So... having had my rant, I want to know yours...!

Happynspitited. -Try this as a possable solution to your problems. Notify whomever, that you will take your trash to a place convienent to you and the garbage collection personel. Also, assure the health dept., that you will take FULL RESPONSABILITY for any and all animal disruption of your garbage's container's integrity. Further, you need to provide the responsible health authorities, with a notorized letter, affirming, that you will not hold that political enity liable, in case of your garbage's transfered location's transmission of any and all diseases, virus, illness, sickness's, etc.
That way you can sleep, to your hearts content. WHAT THE HELL !!!!!!! I JUST FEEL MEAN, ORNARY, AND WANT TO SPREAD HATE AND DISCONTENT, TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!sORRY HAPPEYNSPIRITED, THIS IS THE QUESTION THAT CAME UP NEXT!

My rant against the nanny state is the indiscipline of children today. As it is the school holidays, the only time to go to the supermarket etc., is in the evening as during the daytime, the little out of control brats are running riot round the shops, with parents just smiling benignly at them. (I have just come back from the supermarket!!) Why Oh why can't they be told how to behave and punishments meted out when they don't?
There is nothing wrong with smacking a child on the bottom now and again and it has an amazing effect on them. Children today just don't understand the word 'no' but they soon get the message when their behinds smart.

I feel for you, I get the same treatment at 5:45 am, 3 times a week from a private company collecting rubbish from a care home opposite my house. I swear one day I'm going to lynch the toe rags. They aren't meant to make noise before 7am.

Being told what to eat etc.

I don't have a problem with my health, have never been overweight (we're a healthy family with high metabolism and all very active and athletic) and enjoy all sorts of food including - shock horror - yes junk food - so it pisses me off to have to watch TV adverts preaching "eat no more than 5g of salt a day" every five frickin minutes. Yes mum. I'll clean my teeth and wash behind my ears too.

What made it necessary is two things.

One the number of blind people in the area, because the beeping is not always sufficient to identify distance or direction.

The other the fact that people people started ignoring the beeping, resulting in many accidents...

Yes, it's stupid. But so is allowing people to sue trucks because those people weren't watching where they were going. One stupidity to balance another.

Mine is those same garbage trucks, but from a different angle. Stuff that is now BANNED from your garbage because of environmental concerns. Flourescent light bulbs, AAA batteries, empty paint cans, empty oven cleaner cans, discarded medicine... the list is endless. Have to take them to a "special" center that happens to be 45 miles away and is open for two hours every other Saturday.

that her goodnight story of doom and immediate doom turned out to be such a fake. a terrible terrible thing that nanny Blair done that night i still have nightmares. we should have sacked the nanny that time and got ourselves a nice new one like them sound of music kids. blast its not fair, i want to have a spoonful of sugar to make the medicine go down and ride on wooden horses to my hearts content. nanny Blair was bad and now nanny Browne seems to be to much in love with her American nanny friend Bush, seems that he thinks Rice can be a good thing in the middle east. but he is been real silly since most of the middle east think she is a lesbian you know and they sure don't like the thought of a lesbian talking to them a bit.

I *so* agree with you about the reversing beeps (automatic so even the driver can't turn them off - I was somewhere where they had a recorded *voice* saying "This Bus is reversing" ) Yes :No doubt the .000001% of unsighted will approve (no offence but once the *community* dealt with that).
Anyway don't get me started on this ... I'm going into reverse ...BEEEP>>BEEEEEEEEEEEP<<<>BEEEP>>>BEEEEPP - surrender yet and vote for me?
What a world!
Good luck to the sane,
Joan.

The Irony is that it bothers you so much that now you want to sue them.
I wonder what they come up with next.
