We stopped by a hamburger joint today and he ordered a sandwich with no drink, so I likewise ordered the same trying to not over do it.
For about 1 hour after I ate the burger, I felt like it was a brick in my stomach because I didnt have a drink to go along with it.
I think its just normal to get a drink with a sandwich to help you digest your food.
Do you think he has a problem, or is it normal for people not to order a drink with a sandwich?
He is not poor. He makes about $160K a year. He can be really cheap and a miser and I am wondering if this is his idea of money saving or if he is being cheap again.

I wasnt suggesting a coke or even a HI C, but a glass of milk or an OJ or something to digest the food. Food rolls around in the liquid in your stomach and the liquid is what makes the bolus to digest. If there is no liquid, its hard to digest.
He has a history of being cheap. Big time cheap. He will drink milk that has a funny smell because he doesnt want to waste it I ended up with food poisoning over his shinnanigans one time and now I refuse to eat food from his house.

Funny, I would have thought he was cheap if he's making 160k a year and stops at a burger joint, regardless of whether or not he ordered a drink. If you felt guilty about ordering a drink, perhaps you've got to look at yourself in the self-esteem department. If you tell me he took you there after spending an hour in a roadside motel on his lunch, I'd be extremely disappointed. But, hey, as long as the dawg is happy. LOL!

I personally don't drink anything along with the food I eat. The juices you create while eating are needed to aid with digestion. But if you're stopping at a burger joint, you're probably not worried about that. Maybe he knows how bad soda is for you. I sure as heck would be avoiding that too. Why don't you just ask him? What sort of a relationship to you expect with this guy if you can't even ask him why he didn't order a soda? Order what you want and don't make assumptions. Speak up when you have a question. And don't ask us, ask the ones who can give you the answers.

I seldom order a drink when I eat out unless there is something I like, and I can certainly afford to buy one if I wanted it.. I won't drink soft drinks of any description, and I am rarely in the mood for iced tea. That basically leaves water, and I'm not crazy about it, either.
So, I don't think it weird at all. Next time, feel free to order a drink, regardless of whether or not he does.

Who is HE? Is it your BF or your Dad? I would order what I wanted. My husband only ever gets water. He does not like anything else. I used to think I should just get water too, then I thought.....HEY NO WAY....if he is being cheap BUMMER~ Then I found out he carries water around with him, he orders water with lemon, cold water, hot water. He just drinks water. Ever so often he will do a Root beer. So, it might be personal preference. ASK HIM! Do not be a wuss. Ask him about it and see what his answer is. Don't ask if he is being cheap, just tell him you noticed that he does not order drinks and you were curious to know why. You might find out an interresting answer! But don't ever change YOU for no MAN cheap or not. Do just what you normally do and if he does not like that, then kick him to the curb, no matter the price tag on his yearly income.

Well it does seem a bit strange, but when I think about it I have done the same thing before. Some days when I drink a lot of water, by the time I eat my lunch I don't want a drink with it. Sometimes I don't drink anything with my lunch until I'm done with it.

You needed to ask for a glass of water then if he is cheap, he wouldn't be out anything. There are some people who do not drink anything while they are eating, and i myself always drink water as that's what i like to drink when eating. He certainly isn't saving much money by not ordering something to drink, but who knows, why not ask him yourself?

Jesus Christ, can't a guy order what he wants without you making it a federal case? A lot of times I don't drink when I eat - it dilutes your stomach acid. Mind your own beeswax and next time order what you want. A Coke is not going to make or break someone.

well you could be honest nicely and say he should do things to hep his digestion and if he's stubborn you could dump him or accept who he is if you really love him
